Volunteer
The Great Lakes Bioneers Conference relies on the help of hundreds of volunteers each year. Opportunities range from spending a few hours once to help us with a big project (like making signs, organizing mailings and packets, conference setup/cleanup), to serving on an organizing committee.
GL Bioneers is powered by volunteer energy! If you are interested in volunteering please click here to sign up as a volunteer. Be sure to tell us in the online sign up what type of volunteer work you are interested in if you have a preference.
Areas where volunteers are needed include:
Pre-Conference set-up: check-in area, posting directional signs, moving boxes within the facility, set-up of exhibit hall, book sales set-up, compost/recycling set-up, and photocopying.
AV/Technical Support: must have knowledge of setting up computers, and troubleshooting Powerpoint presentations.
Dining Hall and Meal Assistants: take meal tickets, clean/dump compost buckets.
Family Space: This is a fun job if you love kids. You will be a helping hand in the kids area, entertaining little ones, helping with activities, assisting activity leaders, playing and helping to keep the area and supplies in order!
Book Sales: set-up and take-down, assist during the conference. Requires comfort using a credit card machine, interacting with the public, and directing foot traffic.
Breakdown: clean-up and take-down on Sunday until approximately 7 p.m.
Silent Auction: set-up and take-down, assist during the conference. Requires comfort interacting with the public.
Stage Hand: assist the stage manager and sound team to make set changes flow as smoothly as possible. You may be running cords, carrying gear, making sure presenters’ needs are met… basically filling in wherever needed!
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering!
