About the Documentary
We will be shooting video footage of our bicycle tour and of the farms we visit. We are also inviting videographer friends to meet up with us on a number of farms for more extensive (and professional) coverage of the farm and its activities, interviews with farmers and farm members, etc.
By bringing many different “creative eyes” into the project, each with their own perspective, interests and questions, we hope to capture all of the facets of CSA – it’s effect on farm viability, on consumer health, on community well-being, on the soil and environment. While this raw footage will likely find its way into many projects, on product in mind is a 20-30 minute video that shows the ins and outs of CSA, told through the story of our bike tour and illustrated with beautiful footage of Michigan CSA farms.
The audience for such a video would be the uninformed and uninitiated – county extension offices or libraries could hold viewings to foster interest and support for local CSAs, CSA farms could show the video to new members to give them an introduction to CSA, it could be used as engagement tool in dialogue with township zoning boards or chambers of commerce, etc.
